I have always been a hopeless romantic! The idea of being a princess who lives in a castle, falling in love with a dashing prince started playing in my mind at a young age. Of course during this romantic love story, I always imagined that I would be wearing beautiful dresses and of course, tiaras! I believe that this concept has helped shape the way I dress even today. I gravitate towards pretty pieces that are embellished or embroidered. I prefer to wear a skirts or dresses with a whimsical touches, such as a flowy fabric or a skirt with a little bit of volume.
Luckily, the Modern Romantic trend fits right into my aesthetic. Modern Romantic pieces are the epitome of feminine while remaining versatile. The Modern Romantic wears sweet girly-girl looks that don’t have to just be pink. Darker florals and lace can be worn with lighter, softer shades to help keep the look fresh.
Express has truly encapsulated the romantic trend in so many of their pieces! Ruffles, lace and voluminous sleeves that can be worn for any occasion can be found throughout their collections. From the gorgeous off-the-shoulder tops to floral maxi dresses in floaty fabrics, these items are the perfect way to inject the Romantic trend directly into your current wardrobe. In addition, most (if not all!) of these garments can be found for under $100!!
The soft pastel pink layers of my Express tulle skirt paired with a classic black lace top with subtle ruffles and a simple bell sleeves truly embody the idea of a modern romantic look. This look would be ideal for a spring wedding or even a first date! Also, the bonus of purchasing separates like a skirt and a top are that you can mix and match these pieces in many combinations! You could also pair this skirt with a black sweater with bow detailing to channel your inner ballerina! Or wear this lace top with a mid rise jersey pant for a night out with the girls. The options are endless! I believe that is why the romantic trend has stayed popular for so many years. The fabrics, colors and textures are classic and you can mix it with different pieces to continually update your look.
With so many terrific ways to add a bit of romance to your wardrobe, who says romance is dead?
